Our inspectors made their usual on the spot visits and picked out the best of what they found: hotels and inns with real individual charm which won?t break the bank. None of the double rooms cost more than 150 euros per night and most of the establishments offer double rooms less than 100 euros. To make it even easier to choose, we?ve marked each hotel or inn with a "we most liked" symbol, to highlight the memorable little extra that we really enjoyed: it could be anything from a particularly beautiful garden or a stunning view of the countryside to the smell of home-made cakes and pastries for breakfast. The guide is divided into twelve chapters, each of which covers one or more of the regions or Bundeslander of Germany. Each chapter is divided into towns and where there is more than one hotel or inn listed in the town, the establishments are set out in alphabetical order. Within the chapters, the establishments are numbers in ascending order. The establishment?s entry number relates to the map at the beginning of the chapter: the numbered dots on this map show the position of the establishment. To find out more about the area of Germany you intend to visit, you might also want to delve into the Michelin Green Guide Germany for further historical and cultural information.
