A Carlyle Reader constitutes the most substantial one-volume presentation of representative writings of the great Victorian prose writer, historian, philosopher and social critic-Thomas Carlyle (1795-1881). It contains the full text of Carlyle's seminal work Sartor Resartus as well as the full text of five of his most influential essays. It also offers general selections from The French Revolution, Past and Present, On Heroes and Hero Worship, and the celebrated Coleridge chapter from The Life of John Sterling.
