A Course in Trading (Traders Masterclass) Book
Imagine a private course in trading that costs thousands of pounds from what is commonly regarded as the "golden era" or the crème de la crème of analytical market writings. Now imagine it has stood the test of time and achieved "classic" status--not one of your conveyor belt trading books--but one that has been tested by traders and scrutinised. Finally, imagine it is available for a few pounds. Well, that is what this title provides. A Course in Trading educates us on how to generate trading ideas and the meaning of market movements. But it is far from basic. It is deeply analytical with a focus on practicalities--the original course had to be, people were paying too much for it to be anything other than very good. The book takes the form of a highly structured year-long course in analysis published in parts as a confidential document available only to subscribers and clients of Wetsel Market Bureau. The course covers techniques lost in the annals of history as well as others that are still in use today such as pivots, tops and bottoms, gaps. Some of the most interesting are interpretations of price actions rarely described in other books: coil formations and stretcher formations. The book goes into very specific, lucid detail backed by clear illustrations about likely price moves following certain price patterns. Reading the text it becomes clear that the book is written by experienced practitioners and not academics. Traders write in the language of probable events and personal experience whereas academics have a tendency to write things in the form of rules. This book could be used by beginners but most will want to have something a little more basic by their desks as well, something like Gifford's Technical Analysis or Kahn's Technical Analysis Plain and Simple. However, if you feel you have mastered the basics, and especially if you are an experienced trader, then A Course in Trading provides a fascinating and unusual angle into price and technical analysis. The book is a "classic" and so you will not find discussions of Microsoft or IBM! The Wetsel Market Bureau is a corporate entity and so it is difficult to know who actually did the writing. What is clear is that the analysis is incisive, lucid and valuable. --Alpesh PatelRead More
