Book Description
The two-play volume, Heroes and Villains (at Extended Reading: B, for 10-11 year olds) is one of ten playscript adaptations of existing Cambridge Reading stories. Both plays are ideal for group/guided reading and they provide a contrast in mood and dramatic form. They can be used to deliver all the NLS objectives for plays, especially 'focus on play adaptation' and 'comparison of genre'.Whitney Snow is an amusing parody of the popular fairytale. Christmas in the Other House is a more serious and mysterious play, for a smaller group of four main characters. All the Cambridge plays are also available in group-reading packs, with accompanying teacher's notes, co-authored by Nick Warburton (an experienced playwright and children's author) and Jennie Dunn (a practising teacher and drama specialist), comprehensively covering the NLS requirements for study of plays as well as offering general guidance on reading and performing the plays in the classroom.
