Captain Charles Albert Curtis (1835-1907) was a Captain in the United States Army. He served as a Lieutenant on the staff of General Hancock, Army of the Potomac, and remained in the service until 1871, participating in several Indian campaigns. He was the author of one book, a novel; Captured by the Navajos (1904) and wrote many short stories. "It was late in the fall of the second year of the civil war that I rejoined my company at Santa Fé, New Mexico, from detached service in the Army of the Potomac.
