Cobber Kain Book

Eddie Kain was called "the terror of Goering's air force". Fighting in 73 Squadron, he brought down numerous enemy aircraft and survived being shot down twice by Werner Moelders, the top scoring German pilot at the time. He was awarded the DFC for his gallantry in attacking seven enemy bombers and chasing them into German territory. Feted in Paris and London, he was the subject of media myths. His exploits, his New Zealand background, youthful charm and engagement to a young actress all fuelled the public's interest. His untimely death at the age of 22, when crashing after doing a last "beat-up" before going on leave, only enhanced his legendary reputation. This book looks at Kain's flying career and the extraordinary man behind the myths, as a friend described him: "In the air Kain is a dare-devil pilot - on the ground he is shy and modest". The author also wrote "Windless Orchard", "McDonnell Douglas F-4K and F-4M", "Spitfire! Spitfire!", "The Queen's Flight", "RAF Germany", "Bader - The Man and His Men" and "British Battle Dress Since 1945".Read More
