Colour Atlas and Text of Adult Dementias Book
The dementias are of great current interest largely because they represent a growing problem in an ageing population. This colour atlas and text presents a comprehensive overview covering the clinical features symptoms, clinical tests and diagnosis - gross and histopathological appearances of the brain, neuroimaging and main aspects of prevention and treatment. The book contains an appendix devoted to the investigation of dementia using single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT). SPECT demonstrates the distribution of cerebral pathology permitting diagnosis of the different forms of dementia and providing clinical information which can be correlated with pathological descriptions of individual diseases. Pathological chapters have clinical "windows" to illustrate the major features of particular diseases. The diagnostic criteria are addressed in detail as are genetic factors. Following a discussion of the spread of dementia and clinicopathological correlations, the book then addresses each disease individually. The chapters include diagnostic considerations and practical methods for diagnosis and an outline of the dementia clinic, covering the structure, patient management and drug therapy concludes the text.Read More
