Creating Music Around the World Book

The music of other cultures is the starting point for this book which encourages pupils of all abilities to express creativity through music and appreciate a variety of musical traditions - an important element in the National Curriculum. Each of nine projects explores a different country or continent, for example, Israel, Japan, Africa, West Indies, USA. The graphic scores - best described as sound pictures - help students to read and play music and to recreate the musical atmosphere of each place. A variety of songs are included throughout, folk songs, calypsos, jazz and rounds - some of which are in the language of the country in an interesting but simple way.
