Crossley Motors Book

The History of the British motor industry is littered with names that were once prominent but which have now become a part of history. One of these is the Manchester manufacturer, Crossley - or, to be precise, two companies: Croslley Brothers Ltd (that concentrated on the manufacture of engines) and Crossley Motors Ltd (that produced cars, commercial vehicles - including buses and trolleybuses - and even aircraft and racing cars). The company's history stretched back to the late 19the century, although the motors business passed to AEC in 1948 and ceased as a vehicle manufacturer in the late 1950s. The engine - manufacturing business, now a subsidiary of a larger combine, continues to trade. This book is a comprehensive and detailed history of both Crossley businesses. The authors have had access, for the first time, to the family archives and the records of the Crossley Register and other enthusiast groups. Alongside the detailed history are comprehensive appendices listing all the various vehicle types produced by the company and the book will be supported by an impressive array of photographs of the assorted vehicles produced.Read More
