The History of the British motor industry is littered with names that were once prominent but which have now become a part of history. One of these is the Manchester manufacturer, Crossley - or, to be precise, two companies: Croslley Brothers Ltd (that concentrated on the manufacture of engines) and Crossley Motors Ltd (that produced cars, commercial vehicles - including buses and trolleybuses - and even aircraft and racing cars). The company's history stretched back to the late 19the century, although the motors business passed to AEC in 1948 and ceased as a vehicle manufacturer in the late 1950s.
