Pamela Green married Abdel-Salam Ahmed in 1978. She embraced his Egyptian culture and Islamic faith, determined that cultural differences would not destroy their love. But her optimism was not enough to sustain the marriage and they divorced, with Pamela awarded custody of their children. When Abdul remarried, their relationship became amicable enough for Pamela to agree to allow the children to go on holiday with their father to his family in Egypt.
