Designing the Future of the South Bank Book
Architects and urbanists have been invited to submit ideas for the redevelopment of the South Bank Centre. This book discusses these ideas. The ten pre-finalist's projects include: Michael Hopkins and Partners; Jeremy Dixon and Edward Jones; Richard Rogers Partnership; and Sir Norman Foster and Partners. The final chapter focuses on the three short-listed projects. The text includes a statement from each of the ten architects about cultural centres. The book also includes the edited transcript from a symposium held at the Centre, where a broad spectrum of participants voiced their views on "The Future of the South Bank". There is a short historical overview to introduce the volume, with contributions from Robert Maxwell and Andrew Saint.Read More
