Dinosaur Tracks and Traces Book

Dinosaur Tracks and Traces is the first book devoted to the discovery and rediscovery of numerous and varied dinosaur footprints and nest sites that have spurred a renaissance in the associated field of ichnological research. Representing the work of seventy noted ichnologists, the essays (compiled from papers submitted to the "First Annual Symposium on Dinosaur Tracks and Traces," New Mexico, 1986) address the history of science and the relevance of dinosaur behavior, paleontology, vertebrate zoology, geology, paleoenvironments and evolution. Several new preservation, conservation and documentation techniques are presented. An introductory chapter provides the reader with an overview of the scope of dinosaur ichnology and its broad utility for earth and life science. The summary chapter suggests that this rapidly progressing field is destined to go in radical new directions as these abundant traces are systematically analyzed. The book is richly illustrated and is intended for students and professionals in the areas of paleontology, vertebrate zoology, geology, and paleoenvironmental analysis, as well as amateur fossil collectors and dinosaur enthusiasts.
