Gumphlumph Book

If you met a creature 12 feet long, with two heads and twenty hands (or feet?) what would you do? Mr Johns made friends and took him home to meet his family! At the time of publication, Stratford Johns (famous as Inspector Barlow of Z Cars for those of us old enough to remember!) was the father of 3 children to whom he loved to tell stories. The adventures on Earth of the two-headed alien called Gumphlumph and various Earthlings soon became a family favourite. In May 1964, Stratford Johns was asked to tell one of these adventures on the BBC children's programme 'Star Stories' and it was so well received that it was decided to publish a book of the alien's adventures.
