Handle with Care Book

Jodi Picoult is infamous for never shying away a sensitive subject and her latest gripping novel "Handle With Care" is no different. Handle With Care follows Charlotte O'Keefe and her beautiful, much-loved daughter Willow, who was born with a very acute form of brittle bone disease - ontogenesis imperfecta. Willow is constantly breaking her bones and after years of sacrificing and caring for her, her family is in a financial disaster. Desperate to do what's best for her family and to give Willow the best quality of life, Charlotte decides to sue her obstetrician, who happens to be her best friend, for wrongful birth - for not having diagnosed Willow's condition early enough so they could abort her. Although she feels that she has no choice, this also means standing up in court and declaring that she would have preferred that Willow had never been born. Readers are thrust deep into the personal, ethical and moral dilemmas faced by all the characters involved. As in many of Picoult's novels, the story is told from the characters point of view, allowing us to see deep into their minds and decisions.
