Handle With Care follows Charlotte O'Keefe and her beautiful, much-loved daughter Willow, who was born with a very acute form of brittle bone disease - ontogenesis imperfecta. Willow is constantly breaking her bones and after years of sacrificing and caring for her, her family is in a financial disaster.

Readers are thrust deep into the personal, ethical and moral dilemmas faced by all the characters involved. As in many of Picoult's novels, the story is told from the characters point of view, allowing us to see deep into their minds and decisions.
This is not a comfortable book to read, but it is well worthwhile - tissues at the ready!
