The first edition of this book concentrated on the processing and printing techniques necessary to produce work of the highest quality. It outlined the structure and characteristics of monochrome materials and the principles of processing them. It described in detail modern darkroom equipment and procedures, both small-scale and large-scale, from negative processing and after-treatment to print exposure, development and finishing.
