Jasper's Beanstalk Book

Jasper's Beanstalk introduces readers to the character of Jasper who is determined to grow a beanstalk. He plants the bean and tends to it carefully each day. Finally, he gets fed up of waiting for it to grow and digs up the bean and throws it away. Readers will probably guess what happens at the end. Jasper's Beanstalk is a picture book that will be thoroughly enjoyed by young readers. This is a simple text that is very well laid out. The clear illustrations will allow early readers to use picture cues to help them read the text. The story takes place over the course of a week, so this book would be good to use to consolidate the days of the week. An excellent book to read children are growing plants as part of their Science curriculum at school. There is also a nice link with Jack and the Beanstalk at the end of the story.
