Platypus and the Lucky Day Book

The cute-as-a-button Platypus returns for further adventures in award-winning illustrator Chris Riddell's Platypus and the Lucky Day. Platypus wakes one morning and finds a forgotten banana under his pillow, which he takes as an omen that it'll be a lucky day for him. Fired with enthusiasm, he decides to go kite-flying. However, things don't go according to plan--first the string of his kite breaks, then it gets stuck up a tree. He decides to paint a picture instead--but his lovely picture gets blown by a sudden gust of wind and is ruined. Then, to cap it all, it starts pouring with rain and Platypus trips over and bangs his head. "I was wrong ... today is not my lucky day" Platypus sadly observes, and trudges back to bed. Then something almost magical happens--he discovers Bruce, his long-lost doll, under the duvet. Because it's still raining outside, Platypus decides he may as well tidy his cupboard, and discovers all sorts of hidden treasures in the process. It seems to have been a lucky day for Platypus after all! Riddell has created a charming and optimistic tale in Platypus and the Lucky Day, with the message that sometimes good things can happen as a result of things going wrong. The illustrations are bold and appealing, and the text is in a clear, easy-to-read format. Suitable for ages two years and upwards. --Alison DruryRead More
