The CTA was set up in 1983 in the Netherlands under the second ACP-EEC Convention between the ten member states of the European Commmunity and 69 African, Caribbean and Pacific states. This book addresses itself to the problems of poultry production under tropical and sub-tropical conditions. In these countries the constraints to increase productivity are very different to those in Western countries. Apart from the obvious climatic differences, there exist chronic problems in obtaining adequate food supplies and at the same time lack of disease control may make intensive production unprofitable or even untenable.
