The father of our Author lived in Suffolk, and died on the l lth of March, 1631, aged 62, and was buried at Babram, in Cambridgeshire. Owen Felltham was probably born at the beginning of the reign of James the first but of his private history nothing is Imown-but it is certain he held some situation in the household of the Earl of Thomond. The Resolves tell us what manner of man he was, and throw a strong light on his personal character. Oaen Felltham appears never to have been in affluent circurnstanccs yet to have possessed enough to satisfy oue of his happy frame of mind, and to enable him with his well-ordered habits, to administer to the wants and necessities of others. He was but youth when he tlius spoke of himself, in one of his original HesolvCs, to be found only in the very early editions.
