Scheduling Construction Projects Book

Described in this book are several project scheduling methods for construction. It enables its readers to prepare schedules based on those methods and demonstrates the uses that can be made of project schedules and of other data derived from those schedules. The methods covered include the Critical Path Method (CPM), the Precedence Method (PM), the Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT) and a probabilistic method. Several scheduling-related techniques are also discussed, including activity crashing and project expediting, cash flow projections and resource leveling and resource-constrained scheduling. The application of computers, in particular microcomputers, to the solution of scheduling problems is explored. Several chapters have material on computer applications, and one chapter describes the types of commercially available programs that are suitable for use on microcomputers. The text describes techniques for preparing schedules and provides numerous practical examples of the kinds of construction problems a scheduler will encounter. Exercises at the ends of most chapters enable readers to apply the information presented in the chapter discussions.Read More
