Sculpture of David Nash, The (British Sculptors & Sculpture) Book

David Nash has built an international reputation over the course of his thirty-year career. Since his first one-man show in 1973, there have been more than eighty solo exhibitions of his sculptures and drawings and his work is held in public art galleries and private collections all over the world. Working predominantly in wood, Nash has been a driving force--along with Hamish Fulton, Richard Long and Andy Goldsworthy--in what has become known as English Land art. This book is the first to consider the entire range of Nash's work, including sculptural precedents and influences, and some of the key issues affecting contemporary sculpture. Working in close collaboration with the artist, Julian Andrews presents Nash's work in terms of themes, drawing formal relations between works, which are highlighted through the illustrations accompanying the text. In addition to 240 black-and-white photographs, color plates illustrate seventeen key works. The main text is supported by comprehensive reference material, comprising chronology, bibliography, lists of exhibitions, public collections, and works in open spaces.Read More
