Sport Psychology: Concepts and Applications Book
This text attempts to provide examples of empirically-baed answers to questions arising directly from the field of sport. Each chapter in this book, except for chapter 1, is set up in the following way. First a number of typical questions raised by participants and coaches in the field of sport at all levels are addressed within the context of the chapter heading. This is followed by a discussion of the psychological concepts pertinent to the answering of such questions and a selection of empirical findings stemming from the field of general and / or sport psychology are presented and discussed in the context of the questions posed. Each chapter concludes with an evaluation of the present state of affairs with respect to the topic area being discussed as well as speculation about future possibilities. The chapter on "Sport and aggression" differs from the rest of the book in that it also introduces sociological perspectives and findings.Read More
