The Alienist Book

Very Good Condition First Edition Hardcover (1994) . Dust Jacket has a tear on the bottom right-hand corner, and one on the back DJ's top left-hand corner (PLEASE SEE THE PHOTOS OF THIS BOOK THAT I POSTED ON THE PRODUCT PAGE). Text is clean and unmarked, there are turned-down pages on page 3 & 5, rest of the rest is pristine. Spine firm, binding tight. A fabulous entertaining story set in New York City during the 1890s with Police Commissoner Theodore Roosevelt enlisting the help of Psychologist or "Alienist", Dr. Laszlo Kreizler along with New York Times Crime Reporter John Schuyler Moore to catch a deranged madman. The duo races to find a serial killer roaming New York City ala Jack-the-Ripper style. The story is very fast-paced and the reader won't be able to put this book down until the very end, it also depicts 1890s New York City very well, a very entertaining atmospheric novel. Those who love the Sherlock Holmes stories will love this book, seeing quite a bit of Holmes & Watson in this duo. One of the best suspense thrillers of the 1990s.
