The Broons Annual for 1978, published in late August 1977. The Broons annuals commenced with the 1940 edition, published late in 1939, and have been issued bi-annually for each even numbered year ever since (excepting 1944 and 1946 when there was a war-time paper shortage). They have always been published during the September of the odd year before - in common with nearly all annuals, publishing during the August or September before is done to capture the Christmas market.
