The Healthy Home Book

We no longer view our homes as simply places to eat and sleep in. They are also spiritual, healing havens. But to create a healthy home we need to be acutely aware of the importance of protecting our spaces against modern toxic living. In The Healthy Home author and co-founder of The Feng Shui Society, Gina Lazenby explains "many modern building practices and labour-saving technologies have made our homes unsafe, introducing toxins than can contribute to stress, tiredness and poor health". Mobile phones, televisions and computers radiate potentially dangerous levels of electropollution. Lazenby's new book teaches the reader skills to combat and neutralise these toxic influences and instead create a home that supports you both emotionally and physically. The book is divided into three sections: The Seven Stressors, Stress-Relieving Measures and Healthy Rooms. In The Seven Stressors, Lazenby examines the major negative influences which affect us, such as clutter, chemical pollution and environmental stress, and suggests practical exercises, like dowsing and smudging, to counter these. The second section on Stress-Relieving Measures looks at yet more ways to increase energy in the home. The tips on the power of colour and smell within a home are particularly good. In Healthy Rooms Lazenby combines all the principles previously discussed and applies them to each room in the house. She is careful to include advice for all types of homes, from the very large to the very small. The Healthy Home brings together in one comprehensive guide fields that have been previously separated such as feng shui and personal health and colour therapy. Packed with practical exercises and sensible advice and packaged in a beautiful coffee table format its only failing is the number of rather unimaginative pictures used. --Scarlet HarperRead More
