The Improbable Cat Book

The Improbable Cat by award-winning children's writer Allan Ahlberg is a brief-but-spooky little book that sends shivers down the spine. A seemingly harmless kitten arrives, impossibly cute and limping, in the Burrell family's garden begging them to take care of it with its big eyes and adorable fluffiness. But as the kitten grows--and grows and grows and grows--the family, with the exception of narrator Davy and his trusty dog Billy, seem to be under some kind of spell, and begins to fall apart... Ahlberg, as always on top form, presents the reader with a classic chiller of a tale, written simply but with a writhing creepiness that builds gradually to its sinister conclusion. The Improbable Cat is clever, concise and packs a chilling punch that makes it an ideal tale of the unexpected for even the most reluctant of young readers to share with their friends around the campfire in the dead of night... Age 7 and over.--Susan HarrisonRead More
