The Lazy Way to Clean Your House Book

Caveat emptor: This book is not designed for the truly lazy. The truly lazy would never consider cleaning their electric can openers while chatting on the phone to a friend. Author Barbara H. Durham admits she's not lazy--she's clearly too attached to her feather duster to make that claim. Like most people, however, she is very busy. Durham wrote this book for other busy people who don't want to devote all their free time to cleaning and yet would rather not live in a pigsty. Durham begins the book with advice on cleaning supplies you'll need, from paper towels to vacuum cleaners. A section entitled "Spiffy in a Jiffy" provides shortcuts to save time and tips on how to get organized. For example, Durham recommends keeping cleaning supplies in the room where they will be used rather than in one central location. The final section zeroes in on the different rooms in your house, with special advice for keeping each one clutter-free and sparkling clean--with minimal effort. Appendices ("More Lazy Stuff") round out the book, including a list of other resources, a glossary of cleaning products, and even advice on hiring professional help. Sidebars in the margins provide additional tips under various headings, such as "You'll Thank Yourself Later," "Quick & Painless," and "A Complete Waste of Time."
