The Oxford Book of Carols Book
A comprehensive collection of carols first published in 1928 with full music score and words. The book has been arranged in 5 Parts, including in the First Part traditional carols which still have their proper tunes (circa 1950s); in the Second Part traditional carol tunes set to other traditional or old lyrics; in the Third, words which are not traditional; in the Fourth, tunes by modern composers (many with traditional words); and in the Fifth, a few entirely modern carols (again circa 1950). At the back of the book are Indexes to Composers, Authors, Titles; there is also a table listing the carols appropriate to particular festivals and seasons. A very useful book even allowing for the fact that there are no new carols from the latter half of the 20th century onwards.Read More
