Trails of the Hunted Book
1928. Clark worked as a sculptor for Gorham. He was then offered the job of mounting animal specimens for the American Museum of Natural History, a position that he would hold for almost fifty years. He was trained in the art of taxidermy under Carl Akeley in Chicago for his job at the Natural History Museum. Clark made models of his subjects before he undertook to set up a display in the Museum so that he would represent the animal in its natural state and position. Many of these models were later cast in bronze. Later he traveled extensively to study animals in their natural settings.
