Visual Basic 6 (The Complete Reference) Book

Given the sheer volume of books on the market which deal with Visual Basic, it sometimes seems an impossible task trying to pick the right one. Beginners have it relatively easy as the vast majority of low-end titles cover all of the basic information necessary to get VB up and running in no time. For the intermediate and high-end user, however, it can be a little tougher. Thankfully, Osborne provide some degree of relief with their authoritative and in-depth volume Visual Basic 6 - The Complete Reference. After an introduction to the VB development environment, author Noel Jerke plunges straight into an examination of object programming and from that point there's no looking back. API calls are dealt with in sufficient detail as to leave the most discerning reader happy and there's a very useful chapter on using VB6's new WebClasses and using VB to create applications suitable to run from the back end of Microsoft's IIS Webserver. Also worth a mention is the extended treatment given to error handling and debugging, and the explanation of building multi-tiered applications. Throw in a CD full of example code and in-book snippets which build to a number of real-world applications and what you have is value for money for those who have progressed beyond the basics and want to use Visual Basic for more ambitious projects.
