Where Are You, Blue Kangaroo? Book

Poor Blue Kangaroo! After finally receiving reassurance that he's the one-and-only in Lily's life (in I Love You, Blue Kangaroo!), now he has abandonment issues to fret over. Lily, the little girl who loves Blue Kangaroo above all other stuffed animals, has a problem remembering where she's set him down from one minute to the next. She leaves him on top of the slide at the park, on the bus, and too close to the monkey cage at the zoo. "Where are you, Blue Kangaroo?" Lily shrieks each time. It's only when the beleaguered marsupial decides to make a move for self-preservation that Lily learns to be a little more careful with her friend. This reassuring tale of friendship is as sweet and gently humorous as the earlier Blue Kangaroo title, with the repetitious tone familiar to children everywhere: "Hold tight to Blue Kangaroo," is the (disregarded) refrain from the adults in Lily's life. Emma Chichester Clark's brightly colored watercolors add wonderfully subtle details to the story. Amazing how a creature with dots for eyes and a line for a mouth can be so expressive. Young readers will enjoy finding Blue Kangaroo even before Lily does, and repeating with her, "Where are you, Blue Kangaroo?" Children may even pay closer attention to the loved ones--live or stuffed--in their lives! Great for read-aloud or for early readers. (Ages 2 to 6) --Emilie CoulterRead More
