Hurricane Kieron and his sister, Rush Around Ria, are always in a mad rush in this bright, bold story from Trish Cooke, whose well-loved book So Much won the 0-5 category of the 1994 Smarties Book prize and the Kurt Maschler Award. Kieron and Ria are bubbly, likeable personalities whose joyful energy seems to invariably result in noisy mayhem. "Trouble was they only stopped when it was time for bed. But, come the morning, they would start all over again." The language and vibrant illustrations create a palpable sense of their frantic activity and the reader almost begins to feel exhausted for them! This book is very easy to read out loud and has loads of noises that children will really enjoy making--Kieron and Ria don't move in quiet ways, they move in great big "zzzzooooommm's" and dizzy "whooooooiwheee's"! The loveable two-some could drive any mum to desperate pleas for them to sit still for five minutes, but hopefully this colourful book will persuade others to follow their example and discover the virtues of quieter creativity.
