The Prophecy of the Gems: Three Girls, Three Stones, One Destiny
Nariece Sanderson18 September 2009In this story, the lives of three girls are combined to make one great tale of magic! To be honest, it's well written considering the whole novel was by a 14 year old girl from France, Flavia Bujor. The story line is dazzling and incorporates weird and wonderful creatures, such as a few fictional monsters/gnomes, a few elves and of course Death herself. Romance, action and suspense, it's all here! On the downside, the plot is a tiny bit too dazzling, and may have to be re read a few times to understand what's going on and when. The story jumps from different perspectives, worlds and times.
I recommend this book to any fans of Gail Carson Levine's Ella Enchanted and The Two Princesses Of Bamarre, which are two equally brilliant books.
Hope you enjoy!!! -
Leaving Homosexuality: A Practical Guide for Men and Women Looking for a Way Out
Johnny Douglas14 September 2009Care, content and compassion are in abundance in Alan Chambers's second book regarding same-sex attraction. There is lots of spiritual health and gritty help about correction, whole-life change, identity, acceptable and beauty. Leaving Homosexuality clarifies expectations and tackles complicated questions with honesty and pragmatism. Chambers shares moving insight from his own life around themes of community, forgiveness and healing along the pathway of recovery from sexual addiction. Chambers reasons with great authenticity that individuals and churches can serve those seeking freedom from same-sex attraction. Painful surrender and hopeful change pulses from almost every page.

In this writing there is an invitation to encounter the infant Christ, both vulnerable and divine; the laughing, loving Christ who cares for us; the sorrowful Christ who suffers on our behalf and draws comfort from our love.
Dennis offers a twenty-first century interpretation of the Christmas story with robust biblical scholarship and poetic warmth. Woven throughout the book is the theme of Eden - once lost but now restored by Christ's saving work on the cross. Sadly its style and delivery in finish and publication is lacking in the beauty of the invitation to explore who we truly are in God.

David Adam writes as someone experienced and enraptured by the beauty, wonder and holiness of Lindisfarne since first glimpsing its fairytale castle from the train as a young boy. In this solid guidebook-like-volume, Adam shows the island's human face, revealing how Lindisfarne and its people have responded to trial, tribulation and triumph in the course of a long and vibrant history. This precious tiny parcel of land witnessed one of the last stands of the 'British' Celtic peoples against the invading Anglo-Saxons in the 6th century. It has been the home of saints and scholars, masterpieces and mystery! Whatever its past, today its ruined 11th century priory and 16th century castle draw pilgrims and visitors from all over the world. In relating afresh many of the island's legends and stories, Adam's pedestrian volume affords the reader a strong sense of all there is to discover. This is a precise, buttoned-down, dull and unspectacular guide.

Better than Meyer and hot on the heels of Jesus is the instruction and embodied wisdom of Eric Gaudion. The honesty, theory, want, guilt, pain and emotion are rooted and real. Managing life with chronic pain and waiting for God to do something about it, in it and through it has been this man's reality and is the unmissable burn in these pages.
Step inside this really great book to discover more. Equip yourself to accompany and answer those who label you wrongly when there's no healing presently manifest. This book is a super weave of testimony, theology and text in this Gaudion's second book. It's eminently readable, rich, resourceful and will be right for so many. May it know a wide circulation and bring health, truth, blessing and hope to all.

Have You Ever Seen a Hearse Pulling a Trailer?
Johnny Douglas14 September 2009Fresh, fun and full-of-faith! Moore writes a great slim volume full of wisdom, wit and warmth. You know the old saying, "You can't take it with you when you go." So instead of putting our faith in material things that can be acquired, the invitation of the writer is the put our confidence in God and his way alone. There is a masterful weave of well structured principled writing, the wisdom of those who've gone before with questions and resources to be used for groups and more.
Rich with Americanisms and though sweet with cultural syrup, this is a really surprisingly excellent book. Moore writes warmly and well: this deserves a wide readership. -

Paul Russell04 September 2009
This book is a wonderful insight into island life from a time that only exists in the memories of people long gone. Miss Peckwitt the loveable Londoner is advised by her doctor to take things easy for a while. This results in Miss Peckwitt finding an article advertising for a lodger. Crofter Morag, the landlady lives on the small island of Bruach a few miles off the coast of the UK mainland. What should be a short stay ends up becoming a two year stay with Morag. From the moment Miss Peckwitt steps onto the mainland quayside waiting in the wind and rain for her boat to the island, you just know this is going to be one fantastic adventure. Not only does this book tell the story of Miss Peckwitts two years in Bruach but you will be thrilled to know the adventures continue in several more books following the exciting adventures of Miss Peckwitt. These stories really will become classics, not only in island humour but as a historical diary of a time sadly now only found in books and stories of country tales.

Contending with Christianity's Critics: Answering New Atheists & Other Objectors
Sola Ratione02 September 2009This new book is an excellent compilation of high quality essays by the most significant Christian apologists working in the field today. It demands a serious and considered response by non-believers.
