  • Cook in Boots

    Roger Carmichael22 June 2009

I don't know what all the fuss is about. Sure there are loads of pretty pictures, but imagery aside let's take a look inside 'Cook in Boots' ... First off, the book cover is almost identical to that of Vicky Bhogal's cookery book 'Flavour' which I bought a few weeks prior to 'Cook in Boots'. In fact, it's pretty hard to tell 'Cook in Boots' and 'Flavour' apart from each other!! Now what about the recipes? Ploughman's Pasty, Oreo Cheese Cake, Spring rolls with rice paper?? ... Hardly original! In fact you can find most of the recipes prior to 'Cook in Boots', take for example the Oreo Cheese Cake recipe which is also published in the cookery book '4 Ingredients' that I purchased earlier this year. All in, 'Cook in Boots' is a great coffee table book with lovely images; but do I really need unoriginal recipes written by a journalist for my £20? Sorry to say, but I am disappointed!

  • The Bad Tuesdays: Strange Energy

    Andrea Chettle21 June 2009

In this second book in the Bad Tuesdays series Benjamin J. Myers once again provides a story that is intense, exciting and thought provoking. The story moves along quickly and new characters and even a new species are introduced with ease
This book is funny, thrilling and intelligent It can scare you and make you laugh on the same page (sometimes in the same sentence) and will leave you desperate for the next volume

  • Morgan Maverick

    Mike Hawthorn19 June 2009

A really funny, heart wrenching and riveting tale told by the man himself with humility and self deprecation. The book is a good product, very well illustrated and on quality paper (important to me).
This tells of Morgan's, Christopher's time in the Navy, sailing, racing, even in GP cars, and other fascinating things. I comment it highly.

  • New Moon (Twilight Saga)

    Jo18 June 2009

I couldn't wait for my next fill of Edward and Bella after reading twilight, but this book wasn't as much about their love as I'd expected. Out of the 4 books it is my least favourite but is an important part of their story and I still love it. Jacob is a bigger part of this book and as much as I like Jacob I couldn't help but wish the focus would go back to Edward. The ending was amazing and I was yet again extremely eager to get my hands on the next book

  • Twilight (Twilight Saga)

    Jo18 June 2009

The Twilight series is like the Harry Potter series by which I mean it's a book that has become hugely popular among all age groups. I absolutely love this book. I love the way the love story is written so well that it made me feel like I was in love too. I completely fell for the 2 main characters and felt their pain as well as their happiness. This is a story that I couldn't stop thinking about for ages and couldn't wait to get my hands on the next books, which are also fantastic I might add. I will reread these books over and over again because they are just amazing.

  • Blue Bloods (Blue Blood Novels (Quality))

    Jo18 June 2009

Blue Bloods is like Gossip Girl if the characters were all vampires - Rich, sexy, beautiful people who have it all and are vampires. I loved the way the book was written like a film where the central character changes, focusing on different people in different paragraphs, it was done in a way that wasn't confusing and if felt just felt like a film. I loved this book it had glamour, sophistication, suspense and most importantly vampires. I would recommend this book to everyone, even if you aren't into vampire books, because it's done in a way that would appeal to a wider variety of people than most vampire books would.

  • Evermore (Immortals (St. Martin's))

    Jo18 June 2009

I love books that have something in the story line about vampires or ghosts or immortals or anything like that and for anyone who is the same as me, I would recommend Evermore. I loved the main character and thought the author did a good job of portraying how lonely and messed up she was which made me care about her. The love story part was a little bit of a letdown as I think it could have been a little better done, but nevertheless I liked the story line and the ending as well. I would recommend this book to teenagers and young adults that like this kind of book and I think I will read it again sometime.

  • Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist Movie Tie-In

    Jo18 June 2009

I loved this book! I loved the characters and how different they all were, but most of all I loved the romance that developed. It only took me one day to complete this book and afterwards I couldn't help but smile as I loved the ending. I also watched the film which was really funny. I would recommend the book and the film to people of all ages even though it is a film about teens.

  • Yes Man: The Amazing Tale of What Happens When You Decide to Say - Yes

    Jo18 June 2009

I was disappointed with this book. I watched the film first and loved it, but the book is very different to the film. It's actually a true account of the author's experiences which was fine but it was all a little bit drawn out and it failed to capture my interest. In my opinion he talks too much about events that weren't very interesting like going for a drink with someone. It was disappointing because I had heard such good things about this book. It might be worth giving it a chance if you like the author but I wouldn't recommend it.
